Another contest! Please help!

So Pixton is having a Haiku contest, and the more views I get the better for me! The prize is "Pixton points", which help you buy props to help you make better comics. It's a good thing. Please vote?

Weight and mass

I made this comic to explain the difference between weight and mass and it was my most time-consuming comic to date. There was just so much fact checking to do! But I learned a lot. Hopefully my students will, too!

Lionfish invasion comic

I have been learning a lot about the lionfish invasion here in Florida and in the Caribbean through research for "Changing Seas", so I was inspired to make this comic for my students next year when we learn about invasive species.

What do you think?

Oil Spill Lab for Middle Schoolers

I did this lab for my students last year and they loved it. Coincidentally, I did the lab 2 weeks before the big oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico occurred. Ironically, that actually helped my students a lot, because we were able to have an in depth discussion about the best clean up methods. During this lab, they learned that although the detergent cleaned up the oil the best, it made their water soapy and "killed" their animals. My students couldn't believe that people were using chemical dispersants in real life.

The saddest part was when one girl raised her hand and asked "If they knew this kind of thing could happen, why didn't they have a plan? Why didn't they do this lab first?"
